Casad Services: Structural Design Consultant,  Substructure Design

Project Overview The Sardar Bridge Widening Project was a crucial undertaking to upgrade a major transportation artery across the Tapi River. Sardar Bridge over Tapi river that connects Adajan and Athwa was widened from pre-existing four to eight lanes. Two lanes were added on either side of the bridge.

Casad's Scope of Work CASAD provided specialized structural engineering services for the sensitive expansion of this large river bridge, ensuring structural harmony and long-term durability between the original and new sections. Our scope of work included:

  • Symmetrical Expansion Design: Detailed structural design for the 760 m U/S and 772 m D/S parallel bridge extensions.

  • Integrated Connection Detailing: Engineering proprietary connection details to ensure uniform load sharing, minimize differential movement, and create a monolithic structural response between the original and new bridge decks.

  • Substructure Design: Design of the new pier and foundation systems required for the extended width in the Tapi River environment.

  • Structural Compatibility Analysis: Verification of the existing structure's health and the preparation of design inputs to match the existing bridge's profile, camber, and level.

Capabilities in Action

CASAD’s proficiency in specialized railway infrastructure design:

  • Sensitive Railway Corridor Design: Proven experience in structural design for projects spanning active railway lines, requiring zero-error compliance and precise execution planning.

  • PSC Technology Implementation: Successful application of Pre-Stressed Concrete Girders for bridge superstructures, optimizing for durability, speed of construction, and minimizing long-term maintenance.

  • Public Safety Enhancement: Designing infrastructure solutions that directly contribute to the significant enhancement of safety for both motorists and train operations by eliminating dangerous level crossings.
