Project Overview
Casad Infra Solutions has been entrusted by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to lead the structural and architectural restoration of one of the city's most treasured heritage assets—a 150-year-old steel pedestrian bridge, Ellisbridge located in the historic heart of Ahmedabad. A relic of colonial-era engineering, the bridge holds deep cultural and historical significance for the city and its residents.
The project’s primary goal is to preserve the structural integrity of the aging steel bridge while enhancing its visual and experiential appeal through thoughtful architectural beautification. Given the bridge’s status as a protected structure and urban landmark, the restoration is being executed with utmost sensitivity to its original design and historical context.
Casad's Scope of Work
Structural Assessment & Retrofit Design: Conducted detailed condition assessments and developed retrofit strategies to restore the steel superstructure while ensuring long-term durability and compliance with modern load and safety standards.
Architectural Beautification: Designed heritage-sensitive enhancements including improved railings, lighting, paving, and facade treatments that elevate the bridge’s aesthetic while retaining its original character.
BIM Modeling & Visualization: Created a detailed 3D BIM model for simulation, coordination with heritage authorities, and presentation to stakeholders. Rendered visuals helped align restoration goals with public and civic expectations.
Materials Conservation Strategy: Proposed corrosion-resistant materials and retrofitting techniques suitable for preserving aging steel elements without compromising authenticity.
Capabilities in Action
Heritage Engineering Expertise: Leveraged technical knowledge of steel behavior in historic structures to devise restoration techniques that blend engineering with conservation.
Integrated Architecture + Engineering: Delivered a unified approach to bridge restoration that harmonizes structural rehabilitation with visual rejuvenation.
Public Space Transformation: Enhanced pedestrian usability and safety while turning the bridge into a vibrant, culturally symbolic urban connector.
Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitated approval processes with AMC and heritage bodies using advanced visualization, modeling, and community engagement tools.
