Project Overview

Casad Infra Solutions provided structural engineering expertise for Ahmedabad’s first circular pedestrian skywalk, an iconic intervention at the busy Vastral Junction. Located at the intersection of the S.P. Ring Road and Vastral Gam Metro Station, the junction faces high pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The bridge was envisioned as a safe, efficient, and accessible solution for pedestrian movement while accommodating existing metro infrastructure.

Rather than building four separate footbridges, architect proposed a bold and elegant design—a single steel circular skywalk connecting all four corners of the intersection. Casad engineered this 7-meter elevated structure with a 4.2-meter-wide walkway and integrated vertical circulation systems including four escalators, two lifts, and staircases. A 45-meter bridge arm further connects the loop to the adjacent metro station, creating seamless multimodal accessibility.

Casad's Scope of Work
  • Structural Engineering Design: Engineered the entire circular bridge structure using advanced analysis tools to ensure stability, safety, and speed of construction with minimal urban disruption.

  • Steel Detailing & Member Optimization: Delivered precise detailing of steel members for rapid fabrication and erection. Ensured optimal material usage and modular assembly.

  • BIM Modeling for Visualization & Coordination: Developed comprehensive 3D BIM models to coordinate with HCP and AUDA. Enabled clear visualization for stakeholder approvals and construction sequencing.

  • Load & Movement Analysis: Addressed complex load transfer in a circular configuration and ensured pedestrian comfort under dynamic movement.

Capabilities in Action
  • Innovative Structural Solutions: Transformed a complex urban requirement into a graceful, single-span circular steel structure integrating architecture and engineering.

  • Speed of Delivery: The use of steel allowed quick fabrication and on-site assembly, minimizing traffic disruption and aligning with the metro project timeline.

  • Human-Centered Design: Structural design facilitated universal accessibility and safety for thousands of daily commuters using stairs, lifts, and escalators.

  • Smart Urban Integration: Engineered the pedestrian loop to integrate seamlessly with the Vastral Metro Station, improving multimodal connectivity.
